Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve
The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve, established in 1895, is ideal for game viewing with viewing hides that overlook waterholes.
Visitors are enabled to see the animals at close range. The park is world renowned for its role in Rhino conservation and the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Centenary Capture Centre sets a benchmark for animal capture and sustainable utilization throughout Africa.
The park stretches over ninety-six thousand hectares of hilly topography and contains a diverse range of fauna and flora. The Big Five are on display throughout the park, as well as several more elusive animals, such Wild Dog, Giraffe, Cheetah and Nyala. The northern section of the park is known for the diverse range of both animal and bird life. Besides game drives, visitors can go on self guided auto trails which provide information on management and the natural history of the reserve.
Guided walks are also available and best to do early morning or late afternoon. Hluhluwe is located in a low risk malaria area so visitors are advised to consult their doctors before visiting.
